Quebec City is the capital city of the Canadian province of Quebec.
In 2008, Quebec is celebrating 400 years of European settlement, which began with the landing of Samuel de Champlain here in 1608.
The historical Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec) is divided into Upper Town and Lower Town.
Upper Town (Haute-Ville) is the walled city on top of a hill.
Lower Town (Basse-Ville) is the area below the wall along the St. Lawerence River.
