The German port of Rostock on the Baltic coast is the gateway to Berlin for cruise ships. Since we have been to Berlin in 2014, it is not worth the 3-hour each way trip to revisit the same popular tourist sites.
Cruise ships dock at the port of Warnemünde, which is 12 km north of Rostock city center. A one-way trip on the suburban S-Bahn commuter train takes 21 minutes.
