California

During 8th of April – May 10th, 2008, I visited California with my wife and 2 younger kids.
We had a fabulous time visiting friends and taking in the rich natural heritage God has given this land.
Our journey started out in Anaheim where I birded at Sage Park.
Then off to San Diego and Dalzura. Here I was blessed with help from David Povey.
David lives only a mile from my friends at Dulzura. Together we birded several spots in and around SD county. David is an excellent birder and has a deep understanding about nature.
Thank you David! You were Heaven sent!

From Dalzura we drove to Yucca Valley near Joshua Tree Park. I met up with Barry Loo for a morning at Big Morrongo Valley. Thanks Barry!

A drive across the Central Valley took us to Santa Cruz. I had the pleasure of being taken out by Barry McLauglin who made sure I picked up a bunch of new birds. Thank you Barry for all that effort!

A couple of days at Sacramento and a morning with Roy Sumner to Consumnes River Preserve was rewarded with more new sightings. Thank you Roy!

Lake Tahoe and Yosemetie Park was un unforgettable experience.

We all liked Santa Cruz and our host there very much so back we went. Some fantastic redwoods around SC.
A long drive took us to Carlsbad, SD. Thank you Jeff and Jan(Bauer) for taking such good care of us! It was special! (including 4 lifers!)
Then we wrapped it up with a few more days at Yucca Valley. Our friends has a house in the desert and were great fun to be with. Thank you Vicky and Solomon!

And most of all a big THANK YOU to my best friend, JESUS, for His care, supply, protection and inspiration! We were blessed!

Your photos are absolutely beautiful. I just moved from San Diego to Joshua Tree and I love it!! I bought a darling 3 bedroom home here and spend most of my time watching my birds. I have a wonderful patio and feed a ton of birds everyday and get to see many I have never seen before. This morning I spotted a beautiful brilliant orange and black bird and do not know what it is. It appears a little larger than most sparrows, but the colors were brilliant, so I went to the computer to look and found your amazing website. I don't see it there, but what a fun site you have, will keep checking back. Thank you for what you do, how fun!!!
