Ban Songnok, a special place for bird photography!

A few years back, Ba Aek, and her husband decided to buy a plot of land next to the secondary forest by Kaengkrachan National Park. Ba Aek (Aunte Aek) has since long had a love for birds and nature and both of them are artistically gifted. Thus they ended up with a beautifully landscaped home.
Here a couple of permanent blinds have been raised and birds come for both water and grain.

There are also fruit feeeders in the garden plus a lot of smaller nectar feeding birds such as Sunbirds and Flowerpeckers found along the many bushes and trees.

I have visited on a multiple occasions and been amazed at the huge variety of birds found.
It of course varies with the seasons and the wet season being the lowest number of species frequenting the water hole.

Ba Aek also have her daughter living with her helping with the cooking for hungry guests.
On the property there are 3 air-conditioned rooms available as well as a tent under a roof.

Cold drinks and coffee is always prepared and a monitor is always on so one can take a break from the hide, go and eat, and still keep an eye on what is happening at the hole.

Since most birders visit in the dry months of the year they will evidently walk away with a wonderful experience.

The larger ground feeders normally show up first in the early morning. Smaller birds come to bathe and drink water and that happens later.

These images are mostly taken at Ban Songnok. Since I have shot the same species elsewhere I haven't always bothered to do so at BSN.

There are more birds in the garden and good birds like Black-backed Kingfisher, Blue-bearded Bee-eater and Hooded Pitta have also visited.

I will updated this gallery with pictures of the grounds after my next visit.
