M42 The Great Orion Nebula

Ooby Dooby Observatory

This one has been a long time in coming. Weather and other distractions have prevented me from capturing this elusive object now for 5 years. This was captured with my Tec 140 with the field flattener, and a Pentax 6x7 film camera.

Pentax 67 ,Tec 140 apo refractor,Kodak Ektachrome E200
f/7, 90 minute exposure, auto guided with an ST-4 on a Losmandy G11. full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I'm in awe of the fact that you can do this with film. It does look different to CCD, too. Kind of more of an "analog" look ... smoother. Nice work !

An epochal image. The Orion Nebula floats gently near Orion's Sword. The fainter nebulae that inhabit the periphery reveal how opaque this region is.

Glad you were finally able to bag it! Now get out and shoot it again! I'm just loving this one though.
