They PCR amplified the lacZ gene encoding the beta-galactosidase
Saw the amplified DNA using agarose gel electrophoresis
cloned it into PCR-TRAP plasmid vector
Transformed the chimeric plasmid into E. coli
and got Blue colonies using X-gal as an indicater for beta-gal activity
