The Cliffs with the entrances toThe Secret Wartime Tunnels

These tunnels were used during WWII and the Napoleonic Wars. In 1803 at their peak, these secure underground barracks accommodated well over 2000 men. The are the only underground barracks built in Britain. The tunnels were expanded during WWII and they included a hospital with operating room and the tunnels were used as a War Cabinet room.
