The bottle, in this case a crystal decanter, is actually hung upside down on a pear tree in the spring and a branch with a developing fruit is directed into the mouth of the bottle. The pear then grows inside the bottle and is "harvested" in the fall. A type of liquor is added, the top goes on, and this unique gift is sold in the stores.
