I strongly recommend the Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX for the following reasons:-
1. It covers most useful range and it is very convenient for Nikon DSLR (with 1.5 times cropping factor).
2. Very sharp and brilliant color, even at largest aperture (F2.8).
