03/06/2005 125936-After

This is a before/after picture from my Fuji S3 Pro camera during a photo shoot I did. The reason the image is black is because the strobes didn't fire because I didn't give them time to recycle before I shot off another picture. I was curious how well the Fuji S3 retained details in the apparently black portions of the picture, so I made an experiment to see how much I could get from this image. The AFTER image shows what I was able to bring out of this dark image with a small amount of effort in Photoshop. This was shot as a JPEG, not as RAW. I know I could have done a bit better if I put any time into it, but it was just a test to see what was retained even in the dark areas of the photo. Still this isn't a quality picture at all, but it amazes me how much I'm able to pull out of what appears to be a black image. :) I definitely like the Fuji S3 Pro's darkness detail!

This came out well---it's truly amazing what one can do with photo-editing software. I've only scratched the surface.

I think you've just convinced me to purchase the S3 as my first serious digital camera. I've read many a post in dpreview about its pluses and minuses, but this is just frickin' amazing. I've also followed your Pbase work with the S2 and now the S3 and have to say that, as good as those cameras are, you are lending them beauty and they look all the better for that!
