Rotary Club of Tyler Young Citizens Club

The Young Citizens Club was organized in 1930 by the late Dr. Edgar H. Vaughn, a charter member of the Rotary Club of Tyler. His objective was to create in students an awareness of the qualities that contribute to the development of useful citizens, and the promotion of important character traits that would serve to strengthen the American way of life. One young man and one young woman are chosen each year from each of the participating public and private schools and colleges in Smith County. They, along with their parents, are recognized at an awards luncheon in May at Tyler Junior College. The Young Citizens Club program has been replicated by Rotary Clubs all over the world.
