That looks like the shul we went to when I was small. I used to love to go on New Years as my father always said "to hear the shofar blow."

This was Temple Zion on the south side of the Concourse, just north of Tremont. I was BarMitzvahed there November of 1960. The fence in the photo is on the pedestrian island and was added to the Concourse maybe 15 years ago? The guest that mentions the synagogue across from the courthouse at Walton and 161st st should know that too is now defunct.

As a child I remember what may have been a shul on Walton Avenue & Mt. Eden.

A Shul is another name for a Synagogue.

This was The Temple Zion, on the Concourse near Echo Place (North of tremont). I was Bar Mitzvahed there in 1958.

Was this the shul that was across the street from Crotona Park (behind Herman Ridder)?
I am assuming that because of the fencing across the street which makes me believe it was a park.

That's right, USED TO BE.. for some of the older remaining Jewish citizens in the area (until about 10 years ago from 1/09?). I think the only remaining Jewish community center and synagogue is across from the Bronx County Court House off of 161st street?
