Some images of our first trip home after 2 years in Mozambique. On the Lloyd Triestino m/v Africa from Durban to Brindisi, and back on the sister ship m/v Europa from Venice to Durban. Photos taken with my Kodak Brownie 620.
On that Jan-Feb 1961 MN Africa voyage, I embarked with a new 35 mm camera but only one 36 frame film, and for economy, had to practice what I called "Conservation of Kodachrome". On my second night in Italy, on a late-night train from Venezia to Roma, we shared a compartment with some pretty rough peasants. I fell asleep sitting, and when I awoke in the morning, the peasants were gone, and so was my camera - just a snipped half-strap still around my neck. Thus I lost all photo-records of that wonderful voyage, and it has been a huge pleasure having it all brought back to life 58 years later by Pablo's extraordinary film.
I forwarded the link to a cabin companion, Tim G. Sounds as if he (another octogenarian) was also overcome with a wave of nostalgia. Tim, are you able to add any stills to Pablo's memorabilia?
