We are being asked to swap a procedure that has planes flying further away (SEPDY) for one where they turn closer to Brisbane and fly higher (SSTIK).

This data shows that there seems to be an upper limit for how high the planes can get when taking off from SFO. The limit is about 5,500 feet. I do not believe that planes over 5,500 feet do not create noise events. Why? Lets look at the flights that are more than than 4,000 feet horizontally away from the Elementary School and at a height of 4,000 feet. There are two events and they are still creating noise events and they are further away than a plane at a height of 5,500 feet and 1,000 feet from Brisbane Elementary school


Exchanging the SEPDY procedure for the SSTIK procedure is a poor trade off and is leading to increasing number of events and noise in Brisbane. Even flights at 7,000 feet are creating noise events in Brisbane. Note the drop off in events after 4,000 horizontal feet.

This graph clearly shows that further away is a better trade off.

Also note how 50% of the events come from planes that are less than 2,000 horizontal feet from Brisbane Elementary School. See the next slide to see the 2,000 foot ring from the Elementary School. The planes are flying right over our town. Why? Because the FAA controllers has been telling the pilots to turn early.
