James William Stanton was the 3rd of 9 children & the 2nd son born to, Smith Crawford Stanton & his wife, Sarah Finley [CALAVAN] Stanton, in Prineville, Crook, OR on 30 March 1873. In January of 1898 he married his 2nd cousin, Sarah Elizabeth Miller. Together this couple would share one child.
