This party shot, "Banging the Belize Breeze" was taken in May of 2005 on Glover's Reef Atoll at Isla Marisol Resort, 35 miles off the coast of Belize. It happened during a trip my wife, Maggei and I organized with 10 friends to the jungles of inland Belize, Tikal in Guatemala and scuba diving on Glover's Reef. The resort is built on a small, flat, 18 acre island that was once a family-run coconut farm. One night everyone partied until late into the evening, celebrating the birthday of the resort owner, Eddie Usher. Eddie went to school at Cal State Fullerton and was managing night clubs in Pomona, CA until the mid 1990's. He eventually left So Cal to return to his family's tiny caye, build a dozen cabanas and operate this wonderful dive resort. We spent 7 days here, diving with our friends and these two very cool dudes. These guys were great divemasters and wonderful hosts. At night we'd escape the heat on this breezy dockside bar and the surrounding deck. The deck and hut was out at the end of a long boat dock in the cool ocean breezes. It was the place to be and feel the ocean both in the early mornings and evenings at sunset. Sailboats from all around Belize would sail into the bay, anchor and row their dingies over to enjoy the atmosphere of this place.
