We drove up Wednesday night, had pizza in Bishop (Santosh still believes
that the pizza was poisoned - don't ask, you don't want to know), and
hiked out a mile or so from the South Lake trailhead by head-lamp. We
setup in this nice little clearing, 101 feet from the trail, just on the
other side of a little marsh. This is what we woke up to the next
morning.
We were only at about 10,000 ft but that, or Santosh's incessant
snoring, was enough to keep Bud awake all night. Altitude is known to
cause insomnia, but it has never really been a problem for either of us
before.
