It was 'one of those nights' where I wanted to go to bed early but hadn't. When I barely began dozing off at about 1am I heard the approaching booms of thunder.
I've wanted to get lightning before but hadn't tried and this storm was wacky because it didn't come from "one direction".
I noticed the majority of the lightning was to the north so I pointed my camera that way and left the shutter open.
In two cases, while the camera was cleaning up noise there were beautiful strikes of lightning but they were missed.
I'd say there were only 3-4 semi-close hits which would provide bold lighting and this was a weaker one but still pretty neat to see over my neighbor's house.
In any event, I found a way to get the lightning on record but I think next time I'll bring two cameras out.
