the Studio

Same straight lighting as image 3333c but with face straight-on.
Layer at "overlay" mode for deeper look but then used curves to slightly brighten mid-tones.
not cropped, really, it's the original image.

Ah, a softbox in front! Now i see how you got the detail in the shadows... thank you for the input.
The effect is strikingly complimentary to her skintone. I try and use natural lighting as much as possible, and tend to get all confused with studio-type options, although i've had some reasonable success using single-light-source.
Heh, i like the caption too... she's juuust holding a giggle in there.
