Sil the beachcomber

Mamallapuram

While you and I are spending so much time on a PC, the man here has to survive with what he finds on the beach early morning 6:45. He has no pension, no social security. Even on his age he has to struggle for his life.
Proud as a Tamil can be, he found his way for a better income.

Doesn't give you that a weird feeling ?
So many trying to focus themself while often these modest people are apathetically forgotten ...
Although, rudly intruding his life could totally disturb his happiness !

The title of the photo along a famous book "Sil de strandjutter" from the Dutch writer Cor Bruijn in 1940 turned into a film for TV in 1976. A sad story of Sil the beachcomber who adopted a girl found on the beach, arising the question 'Can you consider all what you find (shoot) as your property ...'

What a wonderful study of a man just making a living in a completely different world.
Shot with great compassion and understanding!

What a moving photo... yes... we sometimes get caught up in our life and don't always realize what others much less fortunate around the world are going through. Thanks for the reminder.
