Some stay here in Natham for the ten days of the festival, so even the whole night devotees are coming to the Mariamman Temple to pray.

In front of the temple they prepared already the pit filled with wood for the next day holy event of fire walking or in Tamil Pukkuli.
People walk by this pit throwing salt and pepper as one of the likings of Mariamman.
In the left you see a lady cooking sweet pongal rice on the holy grounds to share with the devotees
and to take some along at home. On the right you see a small wooden podium against the yellow house,
I was invited to climb up there the next day.
