Palani is one of the most authentic Tamil worship place in whole Tamil Nadu. The festival of the temple is at the end of January named Thai Poosam.
Many pilgrims walk from their hometown to this mountain temple to do their puja. They prepare themselves one month before following strict
rituals like fasting, only one meal a day, bathing two times a day and wearing a black dhoti and shirt. This fasting period is called Veeradam.

Today I met an old man that walked all the way from Chennai to Palani, more then 600 km without sleeping …. Normally people walk about
200km in four days to this place. Many people support these pilgrims by providing them food and water under the way.
