Oil Filters and drain pump

The original engine design had the oil filter tilted down where it attached to the engine. I bought a dual remote filter kit with an adapter for the old attachment site and hoses to the new mounting plate. You can see the hoses running from the adapter at the lower left to the left end of the new filter mounting plate. Now the filters are vertical so I don't spill oil down the side of the engine when removing the oil filter. The AMSoil dual filter design passes part of the oil stream through a very fine filter to keep the oil cleaner (I hope).

My oil drain plug was in a very hard to reach area. So I bought an oil change pump kit available from most marine catalogs. I got mine from the Imtra website on sale. There are many adapters made to replace most drain plugs but I could not get one for my engine, so I drilled out the existing plug and made an adapter out of it. Now, I simply open the valve on the oil pump and press the switch to pump the oil into a couple of gallon jugs for disposal.

The oil drain pump is in the lower center of the picture. The suction hose was not yet installed, it goes where the red cap shows. The yellow buttons are the operating switch on the left and the outlet valve on the right. The discharge hose is the clear tubing and is in a holder with a cap on the end (shows in the other picture).

Both kits seemed well made and the hoses seem very sturdy. I tied them off with nylon wire ties to make sure they don't vibrate or rub against anything, so I expect they will not create a problem.
