The thought was that the mission was going to be cancelled, in part to the heavy rains. Ironically as the C130s with the Rangers came in the field was clear of heavy rain ( a light drizzle nearby). The real trouble with the weather was for those who roped in over Richmond hill. The weather delay (30 -40 minutes) costs valuable time against the element of surprise. Reports of the fighting had been broadcast over the local radio station, and everyone was called in to fight. So, everyone that had a weapon was shooting at us.
