Old grounded trawler in early light by Dennis

This old trawler has been resting here for years.
It is on the other side of a light plane airfield and off limits.
Hope to get permission to go across and photograph it one day. The old 40-150 didn't do a bad job though.

This is low key direction lighting on a grand scale. Great detail on the shadow side of the boat. There is even "rim" lighting on the grass. Excellent timing on this capture, as I'm sure the sun was rising fast!

Excellent use of natural light source. The lovely amber tones on the hilighted grass set against the dark half of the hull is wonderful.

Dennis - I think I was wrong - even though you did exactly as I suggested - the darkening of the sky has taken the life out that you had put in it before. Sorry! brent

Thanks all for the kind comments.
Brent, I had another go with processing image as you suggested.

Wonderful color of rust caught in the light, Dennis - the ships cabin area looks like it is alive and still very intact. I like the similarity of color tone throughout the pict. I think if you worked at blending the halo transitions a bit more - it would elevate it from an excellent to a superb pict. brent

This is aircraft carrier disguised as a trawler, to fool the enemy and it is waiting for assignment. That is why it is beside an airfield.:-))
Very nice picture with fine light.

The lighting in this one is wonderful, love how the low sun is just kissing the top of the grasses on the shore.

Intriguing shot and story! What the heck is a trawler doing beside an airfield?

The colors are so soft and warm in this dawn light. Your sky is beautiful.
