sacrifice for protection - I like the suffering of the mother in this, the way the snow has melted and made a tear, the baby looks so calm and peaceful - how often are we aware of what our parents went through to give us this sheltered beginning? I think with this pict I used the Filter->Render Lighting tool in Photoshop to direct the light just on the child and leave the mother in the shadows.
