A veteran of Iwo Jima reads the words and studies the portrait of a U.S. Marine in Afghanistan, during a visit to the National Museum of the Marine Corps, Quantico, VA by the veterans for their 70th anniversary reunion.
My Uncle Charlie fought during WWII. He was in 5 major battles in the Pacific, one of them being Iwo Jima. How he made it through those battle is amazing. He was the radio man and when I was in high school, he dug out a box and showed me his metals and his bible with the metal jacket, and his book with all the codes he used on the radio. Sorry to say he passed away back in 1987. This display looks very interesting and the writings along with the pictures would be nice to read. I am sure this older fellow has a bond with the younger guys.
