If I ever make a set of flush doors - I will have to remember to put in a handhole. THough it seems to be on a drawer it is odd to be on the side, and with the metal bits it is hard to tell if anything will open. I would open it if it was a bit closer - not necessarily to see what was kept inside to age with the cabinets - but just to understand their movement.

Brenda, I think those locks have been installed over the many years of life of this door, I doubt all of them are working actually.

I really love this old wood. It looks smooth from years of use. I wonder what has created all the little circle spots. It's a wonderful piece of hardwood.

Such a rich, warm tone to the wood, and then there are all those locks! One wonders why so many have been added. This is a strong combination of mystery and solid textures.
