I hate being stuck in traffic - especially if I have to be someplace. When the come in packed at the sides it is really disheartening. If not anyplace I have to be, I have taken to pulling off and just finding something else to do until it clears up - as I get older and have less child responsibilities it becomes easier.

Looks like congestion in both directions. When I am stuck in traffic, my impression is that I am stuck in the only slow lane.

Marimontse , Colin and Brad. I hate traffic !! We have the opposite here in cape town. Cape town is a city of 1.5 million people. We have excellent roads, in good condition and quite a lot of them, they where also upgraded for the soccer world cup 2010. Our problems is very bad , unsafe , undersupplied and unreliable transport mainly rail, bus service etc. This puts pressure on the road system. This traffic congestion was caused through a derailment on the metro service that blocked all major routes. At lot of public transport has been privatized mainly to the determent of the public. Infrastructure has not been upgraded or maintained or sold off to balance the books pay dividends etc. Nepotism is rife so few prosecutions or cancelation of contracts. . Taxi wars we have taxi wars where one concession attacks another for poaching and often guns are involved. Ah and strikes lots of them. So when this happens morning and afternoon traffic is very heavy. You listen to the various traffic reports and check Garmin live and think “ Oh hell not again.” “ Honey I am going to be a bit late.”

This happens here in Barcelona too! Not sure the solution is to make more roads: When the '92 Barcelona Olympic Games, they made some new highways around the city. As a result, traffic condition improved vastly... for some months, then the new conditions encouraged many people to take their cars and finally traffic went jammed again.

I am sorry, Collin I live in New Jersey with 7 million people,, and of course traffic ,, so your problem is not too many people,, is it too few roads,, or as some places in the US the traffic jam is for an hour or two and then goes away? (car at the back you focused on,, was a great focal point for this image.

Now there is a scene I see all too often!
The threatening sky adds a nice touch of drama
