Fishin on a Swollen Mississippi River-Shirley
by Shirley Haden

The river never seems to get back in it's banks this spring. In only a few short weeks it will be officially summer! Standing up on a rocky shelf, nothing stops a fisherman from fishing in Saint Paul's riverside parks. Those 2 trees in the background are not normally in the river, to give you an idea of how high the water is still running.

There is also flooding about 25km from my place and people have reported big catches.
But some officials from the Fisheries Dept. have told them not to fish.

Kind of quirky fishing from the middle of the park - somehow if you can still fish you know that all is alright with the world.

I like this, definitely a bit of local charm in this photo.

This is also great. If you once should become a wedding photograper, this is the place to bring them for the outdoor photo shoot! Or any portraiture for that matter.

Great atmosphere here! I like very much this diffuse light.
These rivers that flood slowly the country seem quite threatening to me, no such kind of river around here (well, maybe the Ebro river, but it is much smaller than the Mississippi).
