This is excellent - and hi! The B&W enhances the expression and - yes - the freckles. Love the creative composition too.

Greetz from Nova Scotia.

It's noce to see you, Ginger! I like the classic finger framing, but I'm not sure it's 3:4 aspect ratio. :-) --Stefan

Hi Brad, yes your assumption is correct, I am a redhead. Interestingly, here in Australia, a common nick name for redheads is ranga, a bastardisation of orangutan which as you will notice is the subject of my favourite image. I think that the fact that in this format the orangutan is looking at me looking at you is a nice juxtaposition.
As for nick names for redheads, I prefer ginger, as in 'ringer' with a g, and in this part of the world gingers are taking over, the new prime minister is a ginger!!
Long live the ginger, ranga, carrot top, copper knob and bluey!

Cheers

Bennet,
I like that fact it is black and white, though my guess is red hair?,,just guessing, the hand framing is artistic and reminds me of early art courses I took where you made the rectangular frame with you hands framing what your were going to paint

Excellent shot - the strong framing makes the expression even more intense! Wells done!

Simple - it gives context of who you are with a minimum amount of cues - then let the complexities of lighting, facial expression, textures, lines and contour do their thing. Very well done Bennet.

Thanks Shirley, I have taken some self portraits before but this session was quite difficult, getting something I was happy to show. Damn vanity!! In the end I was happy enough though. Cheers.

Great shot and nice to see you Bennet. I love the finger frame, it worked out pretty neat! Now you're just another friendly Oly challenge face! Seriously, this is a very good portrait, I'm drawn straight to your eyes!
