Watching documentary films on TV, with herds of all sort of grass eaters in Africa, this one looks almost unreal.

Very well captured Collin. Love the composition and the pose of the animal.

I'd love to visit there sometime. It is all so *different* from my normal environment. The composition of this shot is perfect. It sure does look dry and dusty though.

Thank for the comments. This is a bontebok (Many coloured buck) . They are highly endangered ( But thnkfully surving ) and the are only about 1000 left. We have a national park that was establish solely for their protection. This was taken on a small reserve just up the road from where I live (10km) . I did my normal "poke my head through the Bonix fencing" and tore my shirt but it was worth it.

This wonderful creature immediately captures my heart and the scraggly but protective tree makes a great contrast to the golden landscape. Super shot!

Wow Collin, I really love this photo! The animal looks almost like a Unicorn! He's very beautiful and that tree really makes the shot. I think the tree might enjoy the solitude more than the lonesome Springbok (?). Really nice composition.

Thanks you gave me an Idea for the title.

this creates a sense of solitude that will soon be interrupted. the turned neck suggests the animal sees an intruder.
