Great one Miro.

I actually came across a Hegret's footprint myself just a few days ago (Without blood), and was very surprised over the size of it. Better not mess with a hegret !

This image works as story telling and as abstract also. Great shot indeed!

Almost looks like the red is splurting out - it looks _so_ red. How fragile our lives. Here - the great blue herons often have bloodied wings from territorial battles.

Thanks for the comments to both of you.
Shirley! Egrets, herons and other water birds are here during winter, because not all of waters are completely frozen, only ponds. Our temperatures go to -20 C but not for long. Most days temperatures are around -5 C to +10 C, so the birds can menage that. We don't have those turtles here.

First off, I'm surprised you have an Egret there during the winter! Ours all fly south for the winter and leave rather early compare to some others. Do you have snapping turtles there Miro? That was the first thing I thought of. Chomp chomp!

It looks like she has been injured - dramatic touch to the shot. The track looks very much like fossilized bird prints from millions of years ago.
