This old church is next to the apartment building where I live. When I decided to buy my apartment about ten years ago, I was mostly concerned with price, distance to my work, the layout of the apartment and all that practical stuff. To see an old building like this was of course a nice plus, but not really important. But over the years I have learned to appreciate the environment where I live.
Last wednesday I came home in the evening after a long workday. It was a beautiful moonlit evening and when I got out of the car somehow this place had something special about it. So I went inside to get my camera and tripod.
It is often so that people don't see the beauty in things that are a part of their life and travel to places far away to see and experience something that is extraordinary. I certainly am one of those people. But sometimes my eyes are opened and I pay attention to what is right in front of me. The last three years this has happened more often to me because I participate in these challenges. So I thank you all for helping and stimulating me to really look at everything that is around me.
