I like the bars of shadow falling across the seed heads. The unfolding flower is more delicate-looking than my Russian Giants, which are in full glory right now. I think it's one of the smaller varieties.
What if you were to crop around just that center element, with perhaps a trace of the petals around it? There's a starlike pattern in it - not the bold and more obvious Fibonacci arrangement of the bigger sunflowers.
Beautiful shot - colors and textures are so appealing.

Again, too centered, and the whole flower defeats the theme a bit (to my eyes). This is especially striking because of the idea i have of a sunflower, a big flower, hence it doesnt play right with the word "detail" for me. Just my opinion, of course...
