Wow, the DOF in this shot is something else! It draws me right into the open mouth of the kudzu beast - and the B&W intensifies that effect by making the shadows look more ominous.

Katherine, I had not noticed the streaks...
I suspect people hit the brakes rather hard to avoid the monster or the turn.
I know there is turn because I drove down the road but when I first saw all this Kudzu from the top of the hill I did not see the monster or the turn I only saw the most kudzu that I had ever seen and stopped dead in my tracks to take it all in. I took picture after picture slowly finding the subject monster.

that kutzu is a monster! and this pic shows it well. it's foreboding and I love the streak of the highway

Thank you all for helping me with that time old problem of which version best represents what I want to say. But that often I get mixed feelings caused by other aspect of the image that I also like and therefore loose the point altogether
In the summer I always look for Kudzu Monsters. This is by far the best one that I have seen yet. Please don't let your young children see this just before bed time.

I really like this, especially the b&w version.

I agreee with everyone. I like this version better. I'd make sure someone is ahead of me before I enter the dark side.

A third vote for the b&w version from me.
Very nicely balanced composition

I agree with Art, this version makes that black shadow look pretty scrary! I love the way the road seems to dead end right where the mosnter lies in wait!

B&W really brings out the monster... I think I'd worry driving down that stretch of road.
