Those are gorgeous colors and shapes. The photo is what I call a "simple declarative statement", so perfectly centered and "about" one thing. Fortunately, that thing is worthy of the statement. Virtually nothing is sharp in the photograph, though. Why? Clearly the fungus wasn't moving, so a tripod, a small lens opening, and a long exposure would have yielded a near-spectacular piece. The moral of this story, then, is, if you going to do closeups, carry a tripod and use it. Once you're doing that, think a lot about depth of field.
