This backpacking trip was intended to cross over Big Pine Creek Southfork Pass (~3800m) and then hike Mt Sill (~4200m) from the southwest. However as we did not have enough ice gear for the late season ice gully to the pass, we had to change plan and went back down and to Lake Elinore (~3350m). From there we hiked to the summit of Mt Jepson (~4080m) and back. The entire trip was a visual orgy of light and colors. Especially the last morning after a night of rain and snowstorms at Elinore Lake was unforgettable.
