Mt Morgan South (Apr 2018)

Paul and I went on a ski weekend around Mammoth. On Saturday we drove to the Rock Creek road closure (8900ft) and climbed Mt Morgan South (13,748ft). Overall a relatively shallow and long tour, the upper part was icy and with very little snow coverage. We did not ski the steeper Francis Gullies but stayed close to the ridge to stay safe. On Sunday we were tired and skied Red Cone (10,380ft) Paul und ich verbrachten ein Skiwochenende rund um Mammoth. Am Samstag fuhren wir zur Straßensperre in Rock Creek (2700m) und bestiegen Mt. Morgan South (4190m). Insgesamt eine relativ flache und lange Tour, der obere Teil war vereist und mit sehr geringer Schneedecke. Wir fuhren nicht über die steileren Francis Gullies, sondern blieben aus Sicherheitsgründen in der Nähe des Grats. Am Sonntag waren wir müde und bestiegen Red Cone (3160m).
