Of all the interesting and rare gulls seen in Lake Co, the past few weeks, this bird was one of the most interesting. It was apparently a runt Herring Gull but as small as most of the Ring-billed Gulls surrounding it. I watched the bird for over an hour as it preened and slept; I had looks at all the details to eliminate other species. Even the most common gulls can keep you on your toes if you just give them the time...........
