Wimberly WH-200 Altitude Limits

These two galleries illustrate the elevation achievable with the Wimberly WH-200 (full Wimberly Head VII) and highlight certain issues inherent in balancing small lenses on this gimbal. In every configuration I was able to swing the lenses fully through vertical, as illustrated, while maintaining optimum balance in both axis.

There are two potential issues:

1) poorly aligned plates to the clamp

2) clearance between clamp and body.

In every case, *I* was able to make it work. The balancing is so critical, though, that slightly different configurations *could* have problems. This test was conducted with a 70-200VR with RRS replacement foot, and a 300/4 AFS with Kirk replacement collar.

Please read my comments in the two galleries below as well as the comments associated with each image.
