12-24 DX

Images from my favorite lasndscape "test chart" to show my results at infinity, where there are reports of issues. I am happy with my sample.

In all images focus was dead center, from the center AF sensor. At these focal lengths, I doubt that the focus point is much of an issue since the hyperfocal distance is about 3-30 feet, depending on focal length within the zoom range. The focus point was at least 500 feet distant, which is why I like shooting this scene.

Rendered from Raw to JPG directly from Nikon Capture 4.4.2. In camera sharpening = None, USM = 66-5-4, which is my default sharpening for this body. That could be played with, of course, and it is generally a mild sharpening that avoids that digital look.

I hope to reshoot this scene later in the day after the shadows are gone from the lower corners. When I shot this I was primarily testing longer focal lengths where the shadows were out of the frame and I wanted the eariest morning light I could get.

Included are images at 12, 18 and 24mm; F/4 and F/8. I shot the entire aperture series but I think these are the most relevent and these are full rez full frame images from my D2H and I do pay for this space :-)
