In wildlife photography sometimes there are amazing sessions when you are standing a respectful distance from a magnificent animal and they accept your presence there. They seem to know that you mean them no harm, and they go about their lives doing what Nature taught them. And you are there to document it. That's what happened recently with this Great Blue Heron. The session lasted over an hour as I watched and photographed the Heron fishing in the San Elijo Lagoon. After I had plenty of captures, I gave him a slight nod, thanked him and walked away, leaving him to continue fishing.
The next few posts will be some of my favorite shots from the session.
