Porsche Club of America Chesapeake Challenge 45 -- Sept. 20, 2014

The 45th annual PCA Chesapeake Challenge was held on Sept. 20, 2014, at the Manor Tavern in Monkton, Maryland. It was preceded the night before by a "Meet and Greet" party for the Chesapeake Region's guest of honor, legendary race car driver Vic Elford, who flew in from Florida. The informal gathering was held in the showroom of sponsor Porsche of Towson.

The Challenge itself consisted of a Concours and Street Prep Competition among about 50 Porsches; another 50 or so showed up. Altogether, about 200 members attended the event. A buffet lunch under a huge tent followed. Then a "Monte Carlo-style" rally was held on the wonderful back roads of the surrounding area, with dozens of cars participating. A tech quiz came next. A buffet dinner followed, after which awards were distributed to those who did well in the tech quiz, rally, Concours and Street-Prep Competition. Vic Elford concluded the 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. event by awarding a special prize to the owners of his favorite car in the entire gathering.

I am pleased to share the photos I took during this year's PCA Chesapeake Challenge. Alas, my photography played third fiddle during this event; my top two priorities were serving as one of the car show judges in the Street-Prep Competition and taking part in the rally, with my wife serving as navigator.
