"Sunbeam had a nicely balanced and comfortable sports car in its pretty Alpine. However, it was always underpowered until it was fitted with a small-block Ford V-8. Once properly sorted with the engine moved back in the chassis, the car really worked. It was substantially faster and gave sports car shoppers another reason to visit Roootes showrooms. Tigers were also raced and rallied, although not to the degree of some of their better-known competitors. Surprisingly, Tigers remain undervalued compared to V-8 alternatives such as Cobras and Griffiths." -- Simeone Automotive Museum
