Hymenoscyphus phyllophilus
These tiny stalked ascomycetes are encased in ice, which shows how remarkably tough and resilient fungi can be. This species usually grows on soft leaf litter but, as here, may occasionally occur on sticks or woody debris lying on the ground. Its spores are
1-septate. A 2nd Notts record.
