This gallery offers moments in the lives of a Red-necked Grebe family, along with their inspiring courage to prevail and adapt through a storm that would destroy their nest. These photographs were made during the summer of 2010 in British Columbia Canada. Photo captions are included. Your comments are welcome. Your vote of this gallery, and of individual Grebe photographs is appreciated.
Hello Norman, Lindsie and I were just looking at your pictures and they are fantastic photographs.I really liked the photo of the baby coming out of the moms back and the mom was looking back at the baby! If you could send me a copy of that so I could frame it, I would really like that. Keep up the good work! I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Wow these are terrific Norm! I love these birds - they have unique and rich coloring and behavior and ritual, and you have captured all of this very well as usual!
WOW what an outstanding gallery, you have captured some priceless moments in time with such detail and clarity, thank you for sharing these special moments with us!
Stunning!!!

Norm, These are terrific images documenting the lives these birds. Thanks so much for letting me know about it. I am in Africa right now visiting Uganda and Kenya, I hope to post many images from this adventure. As others have commented, as a photographer, I know how difficult it is get even one of the many great images you have in this gallery. Bruce Benson
The colours, light and interest throughout this series is superb.
The narrative takes us away from the humdrum of life and transports us to another place where we can marvel at the wonders of nature. That for me is the truly joyous privilege of this type of Photography. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.
Wonderful series Norman. I'm amazed by the quality of your photos especially considering the focal length (1000mm). All I can say is wow.

Excellent work you have done here with this gallery of one of my favorite birds!
I can see that you are very close to those Grebes.
Thanks for sharing.
Many of the "before the storm" photos in this gallery are on par with viewing a perfect diamond solitaire in a Tiffany setting - perfect enough in light, color, and clarity to stand alone and inspire awe and delight.... The entire gallery is an inspiring story of the grebe's life cycle and a tribute to your loving and patient recording of it with an artist's eye and sentiment. Absolutely lovely and worthy of praise!!
Norman...I'm speechless, this series is exceptional. A story of a time in their lives that I otherwise would not have had the privilege of seeing. Each and every one is a story of it's own, beautifully photographed. Thank You!
What an amazing gallery, and what a great adventure ! The whole story and description of these beautiful birds is fascinating, and so are the images : great captures, outstanding compositions and glorious colours ! Thanks for sharing these moments. Big, big vote ! :o)

Stunning Photos!! Gotta love the 'Pink Condo'... We'll have to have people
ask' and we'll relay the 'moving' story!! :-) The photos are complex and varied!! Norman, I'm so glad to have met you & Linda and see the 'work' (time and energy) you put in to your art work... The final results speak for themselves... Beautiful and awe inspiring, re: appreciation of wild-life and nature! Congratulations with the Gallery. :-)
Great job, Norman. Especially the fact that you caught, unbroken, pretty much all of the breeding season. Too often we get only glimpses and isolated moments.
Fascinating portrayal of life for these Grebes. Wonderful what nature presents as seen through the eyes of a photographer. Excellent gallery well presented...
Glorious Indeed ! and a remarkable gallery. Your description to the gallery as well as all the comments to individual images is invaluable information for photographers as well as viewers as to the depth and level of commitment it takes to produce images like these, and shows your absolute enjoyment of the art you are so kindly displaying for us here. A gift for all to see. These are not "nice pics" as are often referred to as, but individual little pieces of art. Each and every one of them. Your level of truly "seeing" what is in your viewfinder and what you react to, the choices you are making, is just glorious. A well named gallery Norman. At your level of artistic endeavour there is no better . . only different. What an incredible story you have given us. Many thanks :-)
Fascinating gallery, a real time story of intelligent birds facing nature. Thanks for posting these beautiful images taken at the right time of day to increase contrasts and colors. Peter

It is a wonderful portrayal of the elegance of these birds. The drama of the storm and the rescue is particularly inspiring. Well done!
What an exceptional, intimate and immensely immersive gallery. You are very fortunate to have had this opportunity, and these grebes are equally fortunate to have been portrayed so beautifully. It is no doubt a standard, and will supply me with countless hours of viewing enjoyment and motivation to elevate my own work. The summer cant come soon enough that I should hope to enjoy the pleasure of such a shared experience with as beautiful a creature.
