Here is Blake climbing the initial ramp to the first
vertical section. This is where our struggle began. Not
only was/is our ice experience slightly limited, but I was
so excited and hurried to get to the base that I, ashamedly,
left my crampons in the truck. With no time to leave and return
we figured on hauling a second line to lower the 'pons to the second.
Blake got as high as he could but pumped out placing screws. He set up
an anchor and brought me up. I realized on the way up, however, why he was
having so much trouble - his 'pons weren't set up correctly! His front points
weren't sticking out enough and it was really wonky to get good feet. Read on.
