Mir Zaman, who decided to accompany us (on foot) from his village in upper Hunza (Shiskot), to Gilgit, and on to Peshawar. I can't remember what his fee was going to be for this, but he went from irrigating his field with a shovel, to leaving with us, in the space of an hour. Anything he brought with himself, was in his pockets. He had no pack.
