Quick visit to Lake Tipsoo

May 31st 2016. A day trip to visit Lake Tipsoo on the east side of Mt. Rainier. The name Tipsoo means 'grassy' but on this day, almost summertime, it was definitely not grassy around the lake! The elevation is 5,299 ft (1,615 m)

Maybe not grassy around the lake, but you struck wonderful sunshine. These landscapes are at once grand and subtle, welcoming and forbidding; a great place to explore.
